Writer complains of serious vandalism

On Wednesday night, Nov. 4 at about 9:30 solar lights near the front door of my home were ripped up and thrown at my home narrowly missing the picture window. During the late afternoon and evening hours of Friday the 6th the car windshield was smashed and totally destroyed. It’s not a repair job; it’s a total replacement! Rocks were later found laying all over my yard and driveway, believed to be thrown from a nearby yard where construction is being done. I let parents know what happened but of course no one wants to believe their child is responsible. There’s no cooperation, no respect for their neighbors and neighborhood, and of course I will be left to foot the bill as insurance has a deductible. I can ill afford in my situation to pay for such damages, nor should I have to. I’m not getting help from anyone in spite of the fact that the responsible parties are all over Facebook bragging about all of the damages that were done from Oct. 30 till present time. The kids who did the damages are on all the other kid’s “friends” lists on Facebook. The kids are bragging saying they had “a very successful time” when they went out vandalizing. People have asked what I might have done to provoke retaliation; I assure everyone that I keep to myself as I’m ill and on medical treatment. I also have no teenagers in the home. I urge everyone with damage to their property to call the Vernon Police Dept. In the past I have tolerated mischief night, kids hanging around near my home, drinking and drugs near my home and kids racing up and down my street on ATV’s and dirtbikes. When kids were hanging out in an area across the street from my home even late at night I said nothing as long as they weren’t bothering me. The kids when younger all came to my home trick or treating. I felt safe. I thought that I have wonderful neighbors with nice kids; I no longer do, and I will no longer find the above activities acceptable, and parents should keep that in mind. They should also keep in mind that there is a curfew in Vernon and the police will be called when kids are hanging out on the streets at night. I believe in karma, and I wonder how you or Junior would feel if you came out in the morning to discover the windshield of your car smashed? Think about me and how I feel when someday that happens. I won’t help you. I will say that I saw nothing, know nothing, just as you have done. What goes around, comes around. Linda Eurich Vernon
