Youth theater program offered
Sugar Loaf The Kings Youth Theater is offering a 10-week training program in scene study and character development, starting Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 6 to 8 p.m. The program is part of ongoing training at the Kings Theatre Company at the Lycian Centre, and is held in the Pavilion. This gives the students access to a professional theater space. This class is for students 14 years old and up, and will be held on Wednesday evenings. It is designed for students who have taken either of the past courses offered at the Centre or have had some training. Students will be interviewed about their past experience or may be required to audition. Instructor Paul Ellis has 40 years of experience in the theater business. He has directed over 80 plays and produced numerous concerts and festivals. He founded Arts Work, a youth employment program in the arts, and has taught both privately and for the School of Visual and Performing Arts in Montclair, N.J. where he was the director of art and cultural affairs. Ellis presently writes and directs the Air Pirates Radio Theater, now in its third season of presenting original radio plays. The fee for each 10-week program is $275. To register call 469-2287 or visit the box office of the Lycian Centre Tuesday through Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information about the program or course content call 469-7563.
