$70,000 is a fair salary for mayor

Generally the CEO of an organization earns more than everyone else in their company. The CEO is at the top of the pyramid. That is because all the responsibility of running the organization resides with him. In other word, “the buck stops here”. Well, Mr. Marotta is the CEO of Vernon.

The salary of the mayor has to be enough to attract qualified people to run to be elected to this job. The salary ordinance that is being voted on is not just for Mr. Marotta but for anyone who decides to run for the office of the mayor in the future. $30,000 doesn’t even begin to address a fair salary. Everyone who works full time in Vernon earns much more than the mayor. What is wrong with this picture?

It is time that personal issues are set aside and we pay an adequate and fair salary to the Office of the Mayor — $70,000 would be a fair salary.
