Candidate reintroduces himself

Now that the school year has begun I want to reintroduce myself to Vernon’s voters. My name is Justin Annunziata and I am a candidate for the Vernon Township Board of Education. Election day is less than two months away; between now and then I want to engage in a dialogue about substantive issues, that have a real impact on our schools and our students.
Our school district’s goal should be to provide a high-quality, well rounded education to our students. If elected, I will advocate for policies that encourage experiential learning and extracurricular activities. There’s a whole world to be discovered beyond the four walls of a classroom. Programs that push our students to find their passion and develop a love for learning should be our priority. Beyond this, I believe that our district is in need of strong organizational culture reform; we need proactive leadership from our Board of Education to confront the challenges that our district faces.
What I bring to the table is my combined perspective as both a former student and a young professional. After graduating from Vernon Township High School, I went on to earn a B.S. in Accounting and a Minor in Management from American University. I now work as the Financial Controller for a New York State Auto Group.
I take seriously the fiduciary and fiscal responsibilities of the Board of Education, but I also understand that investments in education are investments in our future. Not only does providing our students with a high-quality education put them on the path to future personal success, but having a strong school district will allow our town to grow, our property values to increase, and our community to flourish.
Working together we can move our town forward. This November, join me and bring a new perspective to the Board of Education.
