Does Vernon mayor deserve a salary increase?

Vernon mayor, Victor Marotta, presides over a town government that is neither transparent, nor governed by the checks and balances dictated by the Faulkner Act. Our mayor and council have turned a deaf ear to numerous requests that televised council meetings be placed on our township website. Why is that? Why can't Vernon residents have easy access to see what actually transpires at council meetings? Instead, Mayor Marotta utilizes our township website to offer up his version of what happens in town, to badmouth certain individuals and to campaign for his cronies. In addition, "Vernon Vibes" is funded by paid advertisers, several who have contracts and do business with Vernon. Is this pay to play? This total disregard for transparency and misuse of our township website, along with the mayor's direction that the bills list be stricken from the council agenda, appointing himself decision-maker and leaving the council with no ability to approve or disapprove projects, are overt abuses of power.

Idon't begrudge anyone earning a living wage, particularly in our present economy, but until our mayor governs our town in an open, fair and ethical way, I don't think he deserves a $40K raise.
