As a legal guardian of the petition to change the government in 2010 and a Vernon Taxpayers Association member, I worked with Sally Rinker during that time, and I know that Sally is knowledgeable, hard-working and responsive.

Sally served on the Township Council under the council-manager form of government as mayor; served on the Land Use Board, Environmental Committee and Greenway Advisory Board; and is the chairwoman of the Economic Development Committee.

A prolific volunteer, Sally served on Vernon Rotary and Chamber of Commerce; repeatedly was elected to the Republican County Committee; and was a board member of Project Self-Sufficiency, to name a few.

Sally has served as a host family for foreign-exchange students for several years. She is also the owner of a successful construction business and has built most of the premier homes in our community.

Vernon voted in a mayor-council form of government, allowing voters to directly elect our mayor, and Sally supported “the change.”

I’d like to see Sally get a chance as mayor, with the form of government that she wholeheartedly supported, because she is certainly qualified.

Sally supports the LOSAP, Length of Service Award Program, for emergency volunteer services, which will be on our Nov. 7 ballot.

Vote Rinker for mayor and yes on the LOSAP public question.
