With Election Day rapidly approaching, the time has come for residents of Vernon to look at the three candidates for mayor and critically assess which one is worthy of the office.

As we know, Vernon is a complex town and requires strong, knowledgeable leadership.

Sally Rinker offers that quality. Her resume of community involvement is lengthy and spans well over 30 years of continuous service. Very few can even come close.

Despite the politics of Vernon, she has always maintained the interests of the town first and promoted good, proficient government.

It is not always easy but at the end of the day, her strength and perseverance ultimately prevail. She has always been available to address citizens concerns.

Foremost she conducts meetings without untoward and expensive personal agendas. Nor is she someone who hides behind facades and is held on a short leash and unable to comprehend knowledge of the Vernon community and government.

From what I can see, she is the only candidate who has detailed her goals and objectives, which include working with members of the council for the town’s betterment.

I thank you for your consideration and encourage all to vote on Nov. 7.

    Richard Carson
