What happened to rules of order?

I recently viewed the video recording of the Oct. 27, 2014, Vernon Township Council meeting. Councilwoman Jean Murphy remarked on action taken by former Township Clerk, Susan Nelson on an alteration made to the wording in the Jan. 1, 2014, schedule of meetings, Resolution #14-02, without obtaining council approval prior to making that change. Ms. Murphy's remarks were countered by council members' own interpretation of case law. When Councilwoman Murphy cited case law, Lakewood Citizens For Integrity In Government vs. Lakewood Township, which had been provided to the council by Township Attorney Kevin Kelly, Council President Lynch remarked to Councilman Rizzuto "she graduated from law school." When Councilwoman Murphy told Council President Lynch that his bullying did not scare her, he answered, "I'm not bullying you, I'm just listening to the crap that's coming out of your mouth.Councilman Wetzel, who had used an obscenity earlier in the meeting, then said, "stop your whining," which was followed by Councilman Rizzuto stating"this is a council meeting, not a NOW meeting (National Organization of Women) or something."These types of remarks are uncalled for and are sexist and demeaning. They have no place in our local government meetings.
