Thomas E. Slockbower of Vernon, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021, at Newton Medical Center. He was 65.

Born in Paterson, N.J., to the late Richard J. Slockbower Sr. and Marion (Courter) Slockbower, Thomas was one of 13 children. He grew up in Paterson before he moved to Vernon. He was employed as the head shipping clerk for Kohl and Madden in Teterboro before he retired.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy (Mittiago); sons, Thomas of Yonkers, N.Y., Timothy of Franklin, N.J., and Dominic of Vernon; daughters, Dorothy and Tammy, both of Vernon, April McIntyre of Sparta, N.J., and Nina Conklin of Rossville, Georgia; grandchildren, Victoria, TomTom, Emily, Mason, Maddie, TimTim, Justin, TyTy, Domby, Joey, Lexi, Julia, Kenzie, Mikey, MaeMae, Aiden, and Elodie; brother William Slockbower of Spartanburg, S.C.; and sisters, Marion Hancock of Wayne, N.J., and Janice Eckel of Ringwood, N.J.

He was recently predeceased by his brother Richard J. Slockbower Jr. on Feb. 20, 2021.

Thomas was known by everyone for being a loving husband, dedicated father, amazing grandfather, and a hard-working man. Even in the darkest times, his personality and sense of humor never changed. His passions were history, baseball, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a hero, leader and never a follower, which he instilled in all his family members. Private cremation services were arranged by the Pinkel Funeral Home, Sussex, N.J.
