Sussex County Community College President Cory Homer was honored with the Chairman’s Award at the 2026 Sussex County Chamber Awards Luncheon.

The annual event, hosted by the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce, recognizes business success, leadership and contributions to the community. This year’s program also marked the 250th anniversary of the nation’s founding.

Homer received the award, which honors individuals or organizations making significant contributions to Sussex County, during the ceremony. The honor was presented by past chamber chairman Mike Richards.

College officials said Homer’s leadership has helped expand student opportunities, strengthen community partnerships and support the region’s educational and economic development.

“We are incredibly proud of Dr. Homer and this well-deserved recognition,” said Kathleen Okay, senior vice president of academic and student affairs at the college. “His leadership reflects a deep commitment to student success and to the broader Sussex County community.”
