The Vernon Township High School girls track and field team repeated as NJAC West champions, capping a season marked by depth, consistency and teamwide contributions.

Coaches James Saganiec and Brian McCarthy said the championship reflected the athletes’ dedication and preseason goals.

“Repeating as NJAC West champions is a culmination of the hard work the team has put in all season,” the coaches said. “Winning this meet was one of the girls’ preseason goals, and it was rewarding to see them achieve it.”

Freshman Isabella Kuzicki and Jaliann Castillo finished first and second in the 800-meter run to help lead Vernon’s title effort. Senior Juliette Jalbert won the high jump championship, while sophomore Samantha Janus and seniors Monica Curry and Sophia Haw placed first, second and fifth, respectively, in the 200-meter dash.

Kuzicki and Haw also finished first and second in the 400-meter run, adding key points to Vernon’s overall total.

The coaching staff credited the team’s success to strong internal competition and a deep roster across multiple event groups.
